INTRODUCTION

Lila Handicrafts Artisans’ Welfare Association is a non profit organisation that is working for the betterment of poor depressed artisans of traditional textiles in Thar desert (The most backward area of Pakistan and drought-hit currently). Lila Handicrafts Artisans’ Welfare Association is registered with Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh. Registration No. DO-SW (Mithi). 18 of 2008 (Registration and Control) Ordinance 1961.

We make handmade textile products for fair trade shops. The products by the artisans of Lila Handicrafts Artisans’ Welfare Association had been displayed at International Folk Art Market, Santa Fe, New Mexico USA www.folkartmarket.org in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, 2009 and 2010. Our folk artisans make handmade quilts (ralli quilts), hand dyed bed sheets, embroidered cushion covers, wall hangings, table runners, hand knotted rugs, kilims, embroidered handbags/shoulder bags, waistcoats etc.

Ms. Patricia Stoddard represents our art in United States of America. She is a writer of a book RALLI QUILTS – The traditional textiles from Pakistan and India, we are thankful of her for playing a major role of helping the poor artisans.

We also sell handicrafts to fair trade shops worldwide. Due to sell handicrafts outside and fair trade shops the artisans earn better prices for their traditional and ethnic craft works

1. HAND DYED BED SHEETS
The artisans of LILA-HANDS made bed sheets in hand dyed
and embroidered designs, made up of 50% cotton and 50%
polyester fabrics. They have very fine traditional designs in
various shapes and colors. Two pillow covers of same designs
are also offered with a bed sheet.

2. DURRIES AND KILIMS
The durries and kilims are hand woven by the folk artisans.
This product is made of pasham threads in lot colors are used in
a single. This is one of the best choices and hand knotted folk
textile product from Thar Desert.

Size: 48" X 72" and small kilims size is 24" X 48"

3. CUSHION COVERS
The hand embroidered cushions covers are handcrafted
by the craftswomen with attractive designs and many
color choices. These hand embroidered cushion covers
will give fantastic look to your sweet home.

4. EMBROIDERED HANDBAGS/SHOULDER BAGS
The embroidered handbags and shoulder bags have huge
number of designs. These handbags are embroidered with
silky threads and soft clothe used in making of these
traditional product. You may make a choice form dozens of designs.

5. RALLI QUILTS
The most popular product made by the artisans of LILA-HANDS
is the RALLI QUILT. The ralli quilts are made of cotton fabrics in
various designs of patchwork and appliqué. The ralli quilts could be
used as bedspreads or duvet. Very amazing home textile product.

6. EMBROIDERED WALL HANGINGS
These beautiful handcrafted folk art wall hangings are hand
embroidered with silky threads. Animal, bird and flower design
are made specially. The traditional mirror work is also done in
these wall hangings to provide shining look.

7. TORAN
The torn is a tribal product that is used in wedding
ceremony of Hindu religion. This is tremendous hand
embroidered product that is used for a wall hanging nowadays.
